Playing volleyball to lose weight
I had been trying to lose weight for several years, to no avail, when I finally was given a great chance. I was invited to a meeting at our local college. The meeting was initiated by a group of graduates who were volunteering to help people start a healthy lifestyle. During the meeting I learned about a group of people who were going to meet twice a week and play volleyball. I did not believe that volleyball would work as effectively as running, which I hated by the way, but I decided to give it a try. The first meeting was really nice. I met a lot of people of all ages and professions and I was not bored at all. The game was quite exhausting, to be honest. I had not expected that we would have a real instructor, but it turned out that the city council had sponsored that as well. I had never been good at team sports, but I guess it all depends on the people you play with. In this case, I felt relaxed and I instantly knew we would become friends. I went to the meetings for a year and a half, until I found a job in a city situated two hundred kilometres away from my hometown, so I had to say goodbye. But believe it or not, I managed to lose weight anyway. I don"t know how and when it happened, but I must have been so absorbed in the game that I did not have time to think about it.
